// Day by day

Your adventure, day by day

Nine days, from the red city to the southern dunes by way of North Africa's highest peak.

D1Arrival in Marrakech+

Arrival in Marrakech and check-in at a traditional riad. First alleys of the medina, colourful souks, scents of spice and sunset over the famous Jemaa el-Fna square. A first taste before the adventure begins.

D2Towards the Atlas and up to the refuge+

An early departure to Imlil, a small village nestled in the heart of the Atlas. The trek to Toubkal begins: with local guides, we gradually climb the Berber valleys up to the high-altitude refuge where we spend the night.

D3Climbing Toubkal (4,167 m)+

Up before dawn. In the first light, we ascend North Africa's highest peak. The effort is rewarded with an exceptional view over the whole Atlas range, then we descend to Imlil and spend the evening in an authentic Berber village.

At the summit of Toubkal
D4Aït Ben Haddou and Ouarzazate+

A drive through the High Atlas landscapes to one of Morocco's most beautiful kasbahs. A UNESCO World Heritage site, Aït Ben Haddou has been the backdrop for many films and series (Gladiator, Game of Thrones…). We explore its ochre-earth alleys before reaching Ouarzazate for the night.

D5At the gates of the Sahara+

Heading to M'Hamid, the last inhabited village before the vast Sahara. After lunch at the desert's edge, we reach the first great dunes of Erg Zahar. The camel caravan joins us for our first steps into the desert. At sunset, we set up the first nomadic bivouac among the dunes and spend our first evening under the stars.

D6At the pace of the caravan+

The crossing continues through the wild landscapes of the Sahara. Guided by the camel drivers, we move at the caravan's pace between dunes, desert plateaus and vast stretches of sand. Little by little, landmarks vanish and the immersion becomes total. Another night bivouacking in the heart of the desert.

D7Towards the great dunes of Chegaga+

We continue our progress towards Erg Chegaga, one of Morocco's most impressive dune fields. Wilder and less visited, this area offers spectacular panoramas over the Saharan expanses. A day marked by disconnection, the silence of the desert and the beauty of the landscapes.

D8Back towards Marrakech+

After a final wake-up in the desert and a few last moments among the dunes, we reach M'Hamid by 4x4 before taking the road back to Marrakech. A long return day — a chance to reflect on this timeless interlude lived at the rhythm of the Sahara and its nomadic traditions.

D9Departure+

After breakfast, transfer to the airport and journey home. The end of the adventure — but certainly not of the memories it leaves behind.

// Frequently asked questions

FAQ

Can I come alone?+

Yes. Many participants travel solo — it's often one of the best ways to experience the trip to the full.

Is the flight mandatory?+

No. You can book the without-flight option and join the group directly in Marrakech.

Will I actually spend time with Léo Nomade?+

Yes. Léo takes part in the entire trip and shares every stage of the adventure with the group.

What level of fitness is needed?+

No particular experience is required. A good general level of fitness is recommended, however, to fully enjoy the Toubkal ascent and the days of walking in the desert.

How is accommodation organised? Will I have a single room?+

Accommodation varies depending on the stage of the trip. In the Sahara desert and at the mountain refuge, you stay in shared bivouacs and refuges: spaces are shared with the rest of the group, in the warm, authentic spirit of the adventure.

In Marrakech, the Berber village and Ouarzazate, you stay mainly in shared twin rooms. If you travel as a pair, you can book two spots together and you'll share the same room. If you travel solo, we'll pair you in a shared room with someone of the same sex; if that isn't possible, you'll get a single room at no extra cost.

Our goal is to ensure everyone's comfort, good company and privacy throughout the trip.

Will there be a WhatsApp group?+

Yes. A WhatsApp group with Léo and the other participants is created before departure to get to know one another, share practical information and stay in touch during and after the trip.

What are the requirements to travel to Morocco?+

French and Belgian nationals generally don't need a visa for a tourist stay of under 90 days in Morocco. A valid passport is, however, required.

If you don't hold French or Belgian nationality, it's up to you to check the entry requirements that apply to your nationality with the relevant authorities before departure.

Entry requirements may be changed at any time by the local authorities. We cannot be held responsible in the event of denied boarding or denied entry. Each traveller is responsible for the validity of their travel documents.

Who organises the trip?+

The adventure is organised and run by DevlopMint, a licensed travel agency (licence A5722), in partnership with Léo Nomade and experienced local guides.
